Dr. Kaufman is the second letter and another of the founders of JKA. He is the current President and CEO. With many years of molecular biology experience and in association studies of complex rheumatic disease, Dr. Kaufman has a knack for explaining seemingly unexplainable results. |
Dr. Harley is our scientific advisor. He has spent the past 20 years studying the complex genetics of autoimmunity in the context of systemic lupus erythematosus. The DNA pooling techniques used by the company were applied in his lab first and have since been further developed by JK Autoimmunity. |
Beth is our Chief Operating Officer. She uses her business savvy to promote and market our products. In addition, she introduces our scientists to bizarre concepts, such as profit margins, expenses, and income. |
Jeff is the sine qua non of JKA. Our applied mathematician and informatics expert, Jeff has developed the algorithms which allow us to make sense of the astronomical data sets, which the pooling experiments generate. His invaluable contributions have advanced our pooling technology orders of magnitude. |
David is our alpha bench scientist. To our knowledge, his technical skill is unsurpassed and he constantly reminds the rest of us of this fact. Having run hundreds, if not thousands of microarray experiments, he has developed an intuitive sense about microarray technology. |
History
Genomics is the genotyping services division of JK Autoimmunity (JKA). JKA started as a spin-off of the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation based on patented autoantibody technologies developed by Drs. James, Kaufman, and Harley. The acronym JKA stands for Judi Ken Autoimmunity. Since its founding, JKA has expanded into DNA pooling technology and currently offers a number of products designed for genetic association studies at a drastically reduced rate, compared to individual samples.
